Dr. Jessie Stone is a physician and professional whitewater kayaker. A New York Medical College graduate, she is the founder and Executive Director of Soft Power Health, which provides primary healthcare and education in rural Uganda. A six-time member of the U.S. Women’s Freestyle Kayak Team, she also founded the Inner City Kids Kayaking Camp. Inspired by treating a fellow kayaker for malaria in Uganda, she established Soft Power Health in 2004. Its clinic in Kyabirwa now anchors six health outreach programs. Jessie has been featured in The New Yorker, ABC World News Tonight, and nominated for a CNN Hero award. She writes a medical kayaking column for Kayak Session and serves as a LEAD Ambassador for NRS.
