Steven Callahan is an author, designer, and veteran sailor best known for Adrift, his bestselling memoir about surviving 76 days in a life raft. He has logged more than 80,000 miles offshore and participated in major ocean races. Steven has designed and built boats, taught yacht design, and served as editor at Cruising World. He has written extensively for Sail, Sailor, and National Geographic. His second book, Capsized, recounts another harrowing survival story. Steven’s work has appeared in international media, and he was a consultant for Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. He speaks widely on survival, seamanship, and maritime design.
