Join COA Outdoor Program summer workstudy student Luca Malde '28 for an afternoon hike along Acadia’s scenic Great Head Trail. This coastal loop combines dramatic ocean views and rocky scrambles.

The hike follows a rugged trail with granite steps, uneven footing, and several short steep sections, offering sweeping views of Sand Beach, the Beehive, and the rocky coastline. 

Depending on the selected route, the hike is approximately 1.5 miles round trip and may take approximately 2.5 hours at a relaxed pace with stops to enjoy the scenery. 

Please note that portions of the trail run close to steep ocean cliffs, and children should remain closely supervised near exposed edges.

Participants should wear sturdy footwear and bring water, sunscreen, and layers for changing coastal weather conditions.

Participants will meet at Turrets by 1:15 pm to depart together by passenger van.
