Get your hands in clay, learn ceramics techniques, and support local food access efforts on Mount Desert Island.

Join interdisciplinary arts professor Anna Ialeggio in the pottery studio for a hands-on bowl-making session benefiting Share the Harvest, COA’s student-led food access initiative based at Beech Hill Farm.

Open to all experience levels, these two-hour studio sessions invite participants to experiment with wheel throwing or hand building while creating bowls for Share the Harvest’s annual community supper fundraiser. Instruction and guidance will be available throughout the session, making this a welcoming experience for both beginners and experienced makers.

Clay and materials are provided through the Share the Harvest program, and participants should plan to contribute at least one bowl to the fundraiser.

Participants will decorate their bowls using underglaze and slip techniques. Studio staff will complete the drying, glazing, and firing process afterward.

Two sessions are available: 1–3 p.m. and 3–5 p.m. Each session is limited to 12 participants, with two people sharing each of the studio’s seven pottery wheels. All participants must register individually, including those planning to share a wheel with a family member or friend.

Share the Harvest works to make fresh, organic, and local produce more accessible to low-income residents of Mount Desert Island through farmstand vouchers and seasonal produce deliveries.
